Terms of Use

The rules for using OpenBid, written in plain English.

Last updated October 8, 2026

OpenBid cannot guarantee results.

We help you find and understand federal bids. We cannot promise that you will win a contract, that a bid fits your business, or that a registration will be approved. Anyone who promises you a government contract is not telling you the truth.

You can cancel at any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

When you cancel a paid membership, you keep everything you paid for until that period ends. You are not charged again. After that, you can keep using the free parts of OpenBid.

1. Who we are

OpenBid is run by Steven Lawrence LLC. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Steven Lawrence LLC, and "you" means the person using the site.

By using OpenBid, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. What OpenBid is

OpenBid takes public listings of open federal contract bids and makes them easier to search and read.

OpenBid is an independent service. It is not a government website, it is not part of any agency, and it is not endorsed by any agency.

You do not bid through OpenBid. You respond to the agency, on the official notice.

3. The official notice is the final word

Our listings come from public federal sources and are refreshed on a schedule. A listing here can be out of date, incomplete, or wrong. Agencies change and cancel bids.

The plain-English summaries, the sorting, and the search results are written by an AI. It can make mistakes.

Before you spend time or money on a bid, confirm the dates, the requirements, and who is allowed to bid on the official notice.

4. Not professional advice

Nothing on OpenBid is legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Any estimate or guide we provide is a starting point for your own decision. What you bid, and at what price, is your decision alone.

5. The free service

Searching and browsing bids is free. Without an account you see a preview: the first results of a search and the opening lines of a bid. A free account, which asks for no card, lets you read every bid in full. AI search is limited to a set number of searches per day. The regular word search has no limit.

We may change, add, or remove features of the free service.

6. Membership

Paid membership is open. You can pay monthly or yearly. These rules apply:

  • The price and what is included are shown to you before you pay.
  • Membership renews each billing period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time.
  • Cancelling takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep your membership until that date.
  • After that date you are not charged again, and your account stays open on the free service.
  • When you cancel, we tell you the exact date your membership ends.

Membership services are help and estimates. They come with no guarantee of results.

6a. Courses, the SAM guide and refunds

Learn courses, the bundle of all courses, and the SAM guide are paid for once. They are not a subscription, and you are not charged again.

No refunds once a course or the SAM guide is opened.

  • A course counts as opened as soon as you open any lesson in it after paying.
  • The SAM guide counts as opened as soon as you open it after paying.
  • For the bundle of all courses, opening any one course or the SAM guide counts as opening the bundle.
  • If you paid and have not opened it yet, contact us and we will refund it.

Courses are preparation, not certification. The government decides every registration and certification. A course cannot guarantee that yours is approved.

7. Email from us

If you give us your email address, we use it for the purpose you gave it. Every email we send has a link that takes you off the list with one click.

8. Using the site fairly

Please do not:

  • Use the site for anything against the law
  • Copy the site in bulk with automated tools, or overload it
  • Try to break into the site or get around its limits
  • Pass off OpenBid or its content as a government service

We may block use that breaks these rules.

9. Who owns what

The federal bid listings are public information. The OpenBid name, the design of the site, and the text we write belong to Steven Lawrence LLC.

The names of federal agencies belong to those agencies. Seeing them here does not mean an agency endorses OpenBid.

10. Links to other sites

We link to official federal notices and other outside sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what is on them.

11. Our responsibility to you

OpenBid is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, complete, or free of errors.

As far as the law allows, Steven Lawrence LLC is not responsible for losses that come from relying on the site, such as a missed deadline, a lost bid, or the cost of preparing a bid.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using OpenBid after a change, the new terms apply.

13. Questions

If anything here is unclear, ask us. We would rather explain it than have you guess.
